About this work
A colorful lithographic print by Kurz & Allison depicting the Battle of Quasimas near Santiago, dated June 24, 1898. Blue-uniformed soldiers advance under an American flag through palm-lined terrain while others fall in the grass, and a mounted officer and a distant bay with ships appear in the background. The composition follows the title's reference to the 9th and 10th Colored Cavalry supporting the Rough Riders.
