About this work
This chromolithographic campaign poster titled The Champions of the People's Rights, published by Haasis & Lubrecht in 1876, presents oval portraits of Samuel J. Tilden and Thomas A. Hendricks, the Democratic presidential and vice-presidential candidates. Allegorical female figures, American flags, an eagle holding a ribbon reading Our Country Forever, and a Temple of Liberty scene surround them, with dense printed text describing the party platform and biographies.
