About this work
A chromolithographic educational plate titled Cakao, produced by Goering-Schmidt in 1911, shows the Theobroma cacao tree with its large leaves and ripening yellow pods. Central panel depicts a tropical plantation with workers gathering pods, a woman carrying a basket on her head, a small house, and a winding river beneath tall shade trees. Insets at right show a cut open pod with beans, a flower, and detailed floral parts.
