About this work
A hand-colored lithograph from the trade catalogue Le Magasin de Meubles presents two upholstered footstools side by side. The left example is a Louis XIV style pouf with a floral-painted top, gilded rococo legs and a red and blue border, while the right example is a pouf oreiller with geometric patterned upholstery and a deep fringe of tassels. The plate is credited to Victor Léon Michel Quétin, with a date range of 1832 to 1904.
