About this work
A lithographic plate from the trade catalogue Le Magasin de Meubles shows four hand-coloured light chairs labelled Chaises Légères, numbered 1787 through 1790. The chairs have gilded or yellow-toned frames with turned legs, curved seats, and varied backs, including lyre-shaped and openwork designs. The sheet is credited to Victor Léon Michel Quétin, Paris, and dated 1832 to 1904.
