About this work
A hand-colored plate titled Fenêtre Louis XVI, Rideaux Meternick, from the series Le Magasin de Meubles (plate 671), shows an elaborate window treatment with swagged crimson and brown velvet drapes, green silk panels, gold fringe and tassels beneath a gilded cornice. Below the curtains a pale pleated blind frames a view of white paneled doors and greenery.
