About this work
A hand-coloured print from the series Le Magasin de Meubles shows an elaborate portière with purple damask drapery, gold and red fringe, and tassel tiebacks framing a pair of glazed doors. Through the glass, a garden of ferns and flowers is visible, set within gilded and grey wall panelling. The print is attributed to Victor Léon Michel Quétin and dated 1832 to 1904.
