About this work
A hand-colored furniture plate titled Chaises Fumeuses, from the 12th livraison of Le Magasin de Meubles, shows six ornately carved chairs with upholstered seats and backs in green, purple, red, gold and striped fabrics, arranged in two rows. The chairs have spiral-turned legs and openwork carved backrests with foliage and scrollwork. The plate is credited to Victor Léon Michel Quétin, dated 1832 to 1904.
