About this work
A chromolithographic plate from Le Magasin de Meubles, plate 237, shows two Louis XV style ladies' writing desks rendered in color. The left desk is black lacquer with gilt scrollwork, and the right is red boulle-style marquetry with brass inlay, both with ornate gilt mounts and cabriole legs. The work is attributed to Victor Léon Michel Quétin and dated 1832 to 1904.
