About this work
A hand-colored furniture plate from Le Magasin de Meubles shows two ladies' writing desks side by side. The left piece is a Louis XVI style bureau with a glazed upper cabinet, a red leather writing surface and turned legs, while the right is a bureau with a mobile cylinder front, gilt inlaid panels and a gallery top.
