About this work
A hand-colored plate from Le Magasin de Meubles shows two carved wooden bookcases side by side, labeled as Bibliothèque Vieux bois à Colonnes No. 632 and Bibliothèque Vieux bois à Pilastres No. 633. The left cabinet is filled with colored book spines behind glass, while the right one is shown empty, and both have ornate cornices and relief panels. The plate is attributed to Victor Léon Michel Quétin and dated between 1832 and 1904.
