About this work
A woodblock print shows a kabuki-style figure with white hair and red face paint, wearing a teal and red patterned costume and gripping a large dark axe over the shoulder. A grey banner with red arrow motifs rises behind the figure, and vertical calligraphy and a seal appear at the left and right. The print is signed Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) and dated 1833.
