About this work
This print from the Shin-Bijutsukai series, attributed to Furuya Kōrin and dated 1901-1902, shows dark linear birds with long flowing tails set among stylized scrolling forms on a pale ground. The fine parallel hatching gives the figures a textured, woodblock-like surface, and the composition fills the sheet with repeated decorative motifs.
