About this work
A chromolithographed plate from the series Die Perle shows nine jewelry designs arranged around a central oval pendant set with diamonds and a pearl drop. The surrounding pieces include earrings, brooches, a turquoise-enamelled pendant, and a vase-shaped ornament, all set against a tan ground with ornamental corner borders. The plate is attributed to Martin Gerlach and dated 1872 to 1873.
