About this work
A chromolithographed plate from the series Die Perle shows eight jewelry designs in muted gold tones, with a large ornate comb set with red cabochon stones and small pearls at the center. Surrounding it are pendants, a cross with drop pearls, brooches and rings, all rendered with decorative floral corner borders. The plate is attributed to Martin Gerlach and dated 1872 to 1873.
