About this work

A woodblock print shows a traditional Japanese room with shoji screens opening onto a view of rose-lit mountains under a turquoise sky. Autumn foliage in orange tones lines a valley below, and a cast-iron kettle sits on a wooden tea stand in the foreground beside purple floor cushions. Kawase Hasui made this print in 1946, and it is titled Yuyado no asa Shiobara Arayu (Morning at the Arayu Spa in Shiobara).
