About this work

A rainy scene shows a multi-story wooden inn with tiled roofs, balconies hung with laundry, and guests looking out, set against a steep green hillside of pines. Rain streaks down across the composition, and figures stand on a lower wooden terrace beside stone steps. This Japanese woodblock print by Kawase Hasui is dated 1941 and titled Miyagi ken Sakunami onsen.
