About this work
A woodblock print shows a calm inlet framed by a dark wooden building with a tiled eave on the right and a stone embankment beside the water. Two figures crouch on the quay beside a moored rowboat, while a small boat drifts across the distant bay toward low wooded headlands under a sky of pink-edged clouds. This print by Kawase Hasui, titled Hizen Yobuko no asa and dated 1948, is held by the Portland Art Museum.
