About this work
A hand-colored satirical etching shows a group of men in period dress pulling a harrow across a field. A stout seated man smokes a pipe on top of the harrow while a figure beneath it is dragged along, and a bird flies overhead labeled "I smell carrion." The work is titled The Corsican Toad under a Harrow and was made by Thomas Rowlandson in 1813.
