About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon shows a courtroom where a seated figure of Justice holds scales and a sword above a bench. A veiled figure labeled Civilization sits before the bench as caricatured men in uniforms and placards gather in the gallery, with speech bubbles and national labels such as England, France, Russia, Italy and Japan. The work is titled World Court Gets Busy, created by Carey Cartoon Service in 1918.
