About this work
A hand-coloured political cartoon shows European nations and figures gathered at a fenced Peace Palace, with Woodrow Wilson at the open door inviting them in. Speech bubbles in the cartoon have the nations quarrelling over seating and terms, and the caption reads Gates Ajar. The work is credited to Carey Cartoon Service, New York, and dated 1916.
