About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon shows a pirate ship crewed by allegorical figures such as Mars, Death, Ruin, and Bankruptcy, with a line of nations forced to walk the plank into the sea. On a raft at right, figures labeled England, France, Russia, Belgium, Italy, Austria, and Bulgaria are shown, and the word WAR appears over the scene. This 1916 print was issued by the Carey Cartoon Service, New York.
