About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon shows personifications of nations as caricatured figures, including Uncle Sam rowing toward a figure labeled Russ, while others board a ship labeled The Ruthless. Speech balloons and labels such as Intrigue, Disaster, and Davey Jones' Locker convey the wartime allegory. The print was issued by Carey Cartoon Service in New York in 1917.
