About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon shows European and allied nations as caricatured figures pulling on a rope on a theatre stage, while devils play music and a figure labeled War presides over the scene. Speech bubbles and labels such as Diplomats, Ammunition Makers, Death and Ruin frame the satire, and a crowd watches from the stalls.
