About this work
A hand-colored ink cartoon titled The Trusty Guide, issued in 1917 by the Carey Cartoon Service. A row of caricatured figures, labeled with national names and a military figure, climb down a steep rocky cliff while a leader at the top declares he is sure-footed, and one figure slips toward the bottom as others call out from the ledge.
