About this work
A colored political cartoon titled The Rival Shows depicts competing carnival-style stages with crowds of onlookers, banners showing animal emblems, and caricatured politicians delivering speeches. The title and signage read Wilson's Great American Show and Hughes' Great German-American Show, and the work was issued in 1916 by the Carey Cartoon Service.
