About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon shows a muscular boxer seated in a corner as Uncle Sam stands beside him, surrounded by crowned figures representing European nations. Barrels of gold, money sacks labeled gate receipts and movie picture royalties, and a newspaper marked Challenge fill the foreground. The 1915 print by Carey Cartoon Service carries the title The New Monarch and a copyright line.
