About this work
This 1915 political cartoon, titled See America First, shows a tightrope walker labeled Wilson balancing over turbulent waves marked European War, with Uncle Sam riding in a wheelbarrow and Bryan carrying a bottle labeled Prohibition. Crowds of men along the shore shout competing demands in speech bubbles, while figures labeled Germany and England appear at the water's edge. The print was issued by Carey Cartoon Service in New York.
