About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon titled Sampson and Delilah, issued in 1915 by the Carey Cartoon Service. A reclining muscular giant labeled War lies with his head in the lap of a woman labeled Peace, who cuts his hair with shears while Santa Claus and a crowd look on at right. Figures labeled with national names and speech bubbles surround the giant, and the scene is rendered in pen and ink with pink, blue and red washes.
