About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon shows Allied figures, including Uncle Sam, France, Italy, Belgium and General Pershing, driving out defeated caricatures seated on a park bench labeled Austria, Bulgaria and Turkey. A woman labeled Peace watches from the upper right, while discarded bottles marked Kultur, Intrigue and Frightfulness lie on the grass. The poster is titled Removing the Debris, was produced by Carey Cartoon Service, and is dated 1918.
