About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon issued in 1915 by Carey Cartoon Service shows a skeletal figure of War in a red robe driving a chariot of nations toward the ground strewn with memorials to Waterloo, Sedan, Jena, Moscow and Trafalgar. Nations such as Germany, England, France, Russia, Turkey and Austria are labeled and speak in caricatured dialect, while Disease and Famine figures accompany the scene. The title, Onward Christian Soldiers!, is printed in bold letters beneath the drawing.
