About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon titled Off the Job, published in 1917 by Carey Cartoon Service. A dejected figure labeled Greece steps into the International Employment Agency, where Fate, a hooded figure, presides over a counter. Caricatured European powers, including Austria, Germany, Turkey, France, England and Russia, gesture and argue on a wall panel while a chair marked for Wilhelm sits empty.
