About this work
A hand-coloured satirical cartoon shows a damaged German war machine stalled at the edge of a chasm, with figures including Hindenburg and Ludendorff tinkering beneath it while Uncle Sam and a French figure look on. Speech balloons and the caption "Made in Germany" carry the mocking message of the 1918 print by Carey Cartoon Service, New York.
