About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon titled Interrupting the Festivities, published by the Carey Cartoon Service in 1915. It shows caricatured German military and political figures gathered in an elegant interior, with speech balloons referring to submarine warfare, Przemysl and Warsaw, and a waste basket holding a torn document. The lettering and bold color washes give the sheet the look of a wartime propaganda poster.
