About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon shows Uncle Sam shaking a tree labeled American Election, with a fruit marked President falling toward figures of Wilson and Hughes. Caricatured European nations sit on a stone wall in the foreground, commenting on the fruit below. The work was issued weekly by Carey Cartoon Service and copyrighted in 1916.
