About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon in ink and watercolor shows personifications of the Balkan states and Great Powers gathered around a burning house, each carrying sticks of firewood toward the blaze. The caption reads "Gathering of the Clans," and the piece was issued in 1916 by the Carey Cartoon Service of New York.
