About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon titled Dropping the Pilot shows an airship labeled The Ruthless carrying Central Powers figures, including the Crown Prince, Wilhelm, Austria, Turkey and Bulgaria, while Allied aircraft labeled England, France and a figure of Uncle Sam fly alongside. Speech bubbles and a scroll reading Peace Proposal reference the war, and the work was issued by the Carey Cartoon Service in 1917.
