About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon in black ink and washes shows a circus scene where a bear labeled Russia leaps from a springboard toward a mat marked Victory. Caricatured figures labeled Austria, Bulgaria, Turkey, Belgium, Serbia, and England, with Mars as ringmaster, watch or prepare to jump. The work was published in 1916 by Carey Cartoon Service of New York.
