About this work
A hand-colored political cartoon titled A Spring Idyl, issued by the Carey Cartoon Service in 1916. Figures labeled as nations, including Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria, Austria, England, France, Russia, Italy, Serbia and Belgium, court a central woman in a flowered hat labeled Peace under a park tree. Speech balloons carry the satirical dialogue of the figures.
