About this work
A colored political cartoon shows a formal dinner table where caricatured figures representing Belgium, Serbia, Italy, the United States, France, Allenby, Montenegro, Czechoslovakia and Roumania gather around roasted birds labeled Germany, Austria-Hungary and Turkey. Hanging flags and dialogue balloons, including one addressed to 'Gentlemen: A Toast to the League of Nations,' frame the satirical scene. The print was issued by Carey Cartoon Service in 1918 and carries the title 'A Bird of a Thanksgiving.'
