About this work
A large lithographic print shows the side-wheel steamer Massachusetts under way on rough water, with two tall smokestacks, a paddle wheel, and decks crowded with passengers beneath a cloud-filled sky. Text at the base identifies the Providence and Stonington Steamship Company steamers Massachusetts and Rhode Island on the New York and Boston via Providence route, published by Currier & Ives in 1877.
