About this work
A hand-colored lithograph titled American Dead Game, published by Currier & Ives in 1866, shows a heap of hunted game on a mossy ground. A mallard drake, a turkey with its fanned tail, grouse, a woodcock with a long bill, and a rabbit are arranged together beneath a branch of blue berries and red autumn leaves.
