About this work
A double-page spread from a sketchbook shows several iris blossoms drawn in ink outline, with one large iris rendered in purple and green washes beside a long, arching stem and sword-like leaves. Faint pink and grey underdrawings of additional plants appear behind the figures, and Japanese inscriptions mark the pages.
