About this work
An open book spread shows two detailed ink and wash studies of hawk wings, with barred and spotted flight feathers and layered covert feathers rendered in grey tones. Japanese inscriptions in black ink appear beside the wings, recording the subject and a date. This Sketchbook Pl.082 by Ariyoshi Kondo is dated 1826-1840.
