About this work
This page from Ariyoshi Kondo's sketchbook shows thistle plants with spiny green leaves, pink flower heads, and unopened buds rendered in soft color on paper. A faint pencil sketch of another plant lies beneath the colored botanical study, and Japanese inscriptions appear at the top.
