About this work
A double-page sketch in soft grey and brown wash shows a large bird wing with overlapping scalloped coverts, beside a long tail-like feather and several loose feathers in brown, cream and black banding. Faint pale sketches of a dragonfly and a small object appear in the upper left background. This sheet is from Ariyoshi Kondo's Sketchbook, dated 1826-1840, and is held by the Portland Art Museum.
