About this work
An open album page shows a hand-colored study of a bird's head with a yellow hooked beak and feathered neck, beside an uncolored outline sketch of the beak. The facing page depicts a large bird's clawed foot with yellow scaly skin and dark talons, above a dark feathered tuft. Japanese inscriptions accompany both studies. The work is titled Sketchbook Pl.035, attributed to Ariyoshi Kondo, and dated 1826-1840.
