About this work
This page from a sketchbook shows botanical studies of chrysanthemums rendered in pink and yellow, alongside a branch of leaves with an orange fruit, all in soft hand-applied color with faint ghosted outlines of other forms. Handwritten Japanese inscriptions accompany each study. The work is attributed to Ariyoshi Kondo and dated 1826-1840.
