About this work
A page from Ariyoshi Kondo's Sketchbook, dated 1826-1840, shows several rhododendron branches drawn in ink and colored with soft pink, green and white washes. Three flowering sprigs with buds and oval leaves are arranged across the spread, with faint sketched plants visible in the background and handwritten Japanese annotations beside the drawings.
