About this work
This page from a sketchbook shows several camellia blooms in pink, red and white, painted in watercolor with dark green leaves and pale stems. Handwritten Japanese inscriptions accompany the studies, which are arranged across two facing pages. The work is attributed to Ariyoshi Kondo and dated 1826-1840.
